As part of my training in 2012, I travelled to India to further explore Ayurveda and yoga. While I was in India my body, mind, and life were transformed by the sattvic (healing) foods I was eating and the sacredness of the time spent in meditation, daily message, and practicing yoga.
I experienced the most sacred gift, Vidya : Self Knowledge, the gift that resides within each of us, the truth! That the source of happiness, health, and joy reside right here within ME and you! I am now helping guide my students to this by sharing what I know. I’ve found healing, grounding, and strength through my daily practice and Ayurvedic lifestyle. Nourish yourself with me and experience these benefits yourself.
AYURVEDA The Science of Life
Rooted in India more than 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda is considered the healing side of yoga, offering a natural and balanced approach to optimal health. According to Ayurveda, each person has a unique constitution determined by the individual's unique qualities to create balance and health.
Each person is made up of a combination of air, ether (space), fire, water, earth. These determine one's dosha, or consititution, called Vata, Pitta, or Kapha.
Ayurveda defines a healthy person as one who is established in the "Self." Not simply the absence of disease, but a blissful state of balance where the mind, body, and spirit function optimally. A healthy digestive fire results in sound digestion and absorption and a healthy metabolism leading to healthy cells, a peaceful state of mind, and clear sensory perception.
The self-healing principles of Ayurveda teach individuals to become familiar with their own constitutions, empowering them to make simple yet powerful choices that enhance their mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. This harmonious state can prevent disease and encourages a joyful, productive, and balanced life.
